Below you will find useful info about getting started on the Red & Howling Community. If you have any issues or technical questions re: joining, modifying your profile, posting or sharing content, please ask here.
How Do I Sign Up / Register / Join the Red & Howling Community?
- Click the "Register" link in the menu above (mobile users will need to open the navigation menu), OR simply click here to register.
- Fill out the form.
- Confirm your registration by clicking the link in the email you'll receive.
That's it! Welcome to the Community!
How Do I Add / Change my Picture (Avatar)?
- Go to "My Profile" > Account
- Scroll to the "Avatar" section
- You can either upload an image or paste a URL link for your image*
- Scroll down and click "Save Changes"
- Log out and sign back in again for your changes to become visible.
* If you are having trouble with the "upload" method, please paste an image link in the "Specify avatar by URL" area instead.
To use your instagram image as your avatar: go to your instagram account in a web browser (ex: http://instagram.com/redandhowling ), mouse over your user icon, Control-click or right-click and select "copy image address" and then paste this link into the "Specify avatar by URL" field in your Community profile account page. Save your preferences, sign out and sign in again. This same method also applies for just about any image on the web 🤩
How Do I Update my Profile?*
- Make sure you are logged in.
- Go to "My Profile" and select "Account" in the dropdown menu. You can also click your avatar or name anywhere on the page to access your account.
- Select the "Account" tab (if not already selected) and you will be able to add/change your picture (avatar), website, bio, signature, social media links, etc.
* Important: You will need to logout and log back in in order to see any changes you've made to your profile pic/avatar and signature.
How do I Change my Password?
- Go to "My Profile" and select "Account" in the dropdown menu.
- Select the "Account" tab (if not already selected), scroll down, and you will be able to change your password.
HOW TO SHARE STUFF?
How to share a photo/image (from a computer).
At bottom of post click "Attach Files"
Click the RED button on left that says "Attach files"
Find the file you'd like to attach on your device. Click it. Then Click "Open".
Click the RED "Start Upload" at top or click "Start" on right side of page.
Click the GREEN button at top that says "Insert into Post" and that's it!
Share a Facebook* Post, Image or Video (from a Computer):
- From a Facebook PAGE, go to a post you'd like to share.
- Click the 3 dots {•••} on the top right of post.
- Select "embed".
- Copy and paste this code into your post.
* In Facebook "theater mode" (when you have clicked a post and it takes over your entire screen), the above "3 dots" method does not work for photos/images. You will need to mouse over the image, and then click "options" which will appear in the bottom right of the image. Then select "embed", copy the code and paste it into your post.
Please note that not all Facebook Pages or users will have the "embed" option turned on - in this case the "embed" option will not be available.
Sharing from Facebook's mobile app (not recommended) . If you share from a mobile device, the content may only be visible to other users on mobile devices, for this reason it's better to share directly from the Facebook interface on a computer (see instructions above):
Sharing from Facebook's mobile app:
- Find a post, image or video you'd like to share.
- Tap "share" in the bottom right.
- Tap "copy link".
- Paste into your post.
YouTube:
Just paste a youtube video page link directly into a post and it will embed the video automatically (don't forget to click "UPDATE" to save).
Share a GIF:
Giphy:
Just paste the giphy page link directly into a post and it will embed automatically (don't forget to click "UPDATE" to save).
Twitter:
- Click the down-arrow in the upper right hand corner of a tweet you'd like to share.
- Select "copy link to tweet".
- Paste that link into your post on the community.
HOW TO GET NOTIFICATIONS?
How to get notifications on replies on a topic:
You can subscribe to receive updates by email on updates to any topic/thread by clicking the "Subscribe for new replies" link at the very top of any topic/thread.
You can also subscribe to receive updates by email on replies to your post/comment/reply by checking the "Subscribe to this topic" box at the bottom left of the text box when you are leaving a reply.
Once you've subscribed to one or more topics/posts, you will be able to go to "My Profile > Subscriptions" to select different settings and manage subscribed topics/posts you wish to receive email updates from. (Don't forget to click "Update Subscriptions" once you've made your selections.)
How to mention another community member so they receive an email notification:
You can mention another community member by including their username in your post/comment/reply - this is their @ name in paranthesis under the avatar. Example: @bryan
The member will receive and email notification that you mentioned them, as well as a link to the post.
I tried to "ADD TOPIC", but it isn't posting?
In order to "ADD TOPIC" you must include a "Topic Title", without one, your topic will not post.
Members Only Areas:
Certain areas of the Community contain content that is only accessible once you've become a member.
Have any tips to help others navigate the community? Please post them here!

Hi Bryan,
would unpls pls post a link here that directly takes me to where I can post a new topic? I looked through all of this and it’s very helpful, but I only see where it says be sure to give a topic title. I viewed the screen shot emailed to me but really need this to be a direct link at least for the first time then I’ll have it down and not be a bugger. Thank u Shannon ❤️

Hello Shannon! You beat me to it, but so glad you got the posting sorted! As for editing, thank you for pointing that out - you should now see a button on the bottom right of any of your posts that says "Edit" - if you don't see it, please let me know.

Me again... 🦄. I would like to post new posts under the Animal Communication thread I started. I only see where I can reply to my orirginal post or others replies. But I’d like to be able to make it easy for people to see that there are new posts under this heading. For example, I’d like to have one about resources to help learn this, another for each of my dogs that I have channeled and the stories along with it. Is there a way to do that? So it’s not always a reply. Thank u. ❤️🐶

Hello Mayor Puppypants! Thank you for all of your great and fascinating contributions to the Community so far (I'm still working my way through your posts) - we are looking forward to more, and I think I understand what you are asking.
The best thing will be to post each of the topics you mentioned as "new topics" so they have their own thread, unless they are adding additional info to the topics you've previously posted, where you could edit your post, or reply to that topic.
Can you please post these new topics under the section:
Pet Loss Discussion
(using the red "Add Topic" button in the upper right of that section)
Don't worry if you post in the wrong place, because we can always move posts after the fact.
Perhaps you could include something (the same text) at the beginning of each title that would let everyone know the primary subject. Also, your posts will be searchable on the Community by those terms (and anything in your post) so they can be found all together.
Once the subject grows, we could perhaps create a new main category / heading for this and related topics, and move posts over there - the Community is a work in progress.. Thank you again so much for being here!

Thanks Bryan. 😊. Yes you understood my question. Pleas move my animal Communication post to pet loss section. And I will post there going forward. I plan to make some videos too, esp when I return from the animal Communication retreat in Scotland in August. Btw. Checked out your site, ur quite an impressive character ! Very talented, perhaps I can hire u to make the soundtrack for my eventual wedding to my dogs.

When a normal person clicks LIKE on a post here does it then give a thumbs down and say unlike? Because I click like and it always looks like unlike making me have to click it again and I can’t tell if I have liked, unliked, or remained neutral? I know I posted this before but it’s doing it again. Eek, I don’t want lose any of my paw credits as I LIKE everyone and their posts!

Hey Shannon! Yes, (well depending on your definition of "normal" haha) once you click the thumbs up, it will show below the post that you have liked it, then the only available option will be to unlike it (which you don't want to do) but don't let the thumbs-down fool you - as you have most definitely liked the post if all the the above happens 👍👎👈👉👆👇🙌🤞@http-justhumorme-com
